Candidate Forums

"NNA has traditionally hosted candidate forums to introduce candidates to Northside residents and to educate the candidates on issues of concern to the Northside neighborhood," it was reported in the Winter 1998 issue of the Northside newsletter. "The forums have historically been lively and well-attended."

NNA's most recent candidates' forum was held in March 1998 in the Empire Gardens School cafeteria, with NNA board member Don Gagliardi moderating and about 50 Northside residents in attendance. The first debate of the election season, it featured mayoral candidates Ron Gonzales and Pat Dando, along with downtown District 3 city council candidates Cindy Chavez, Tony West and Ray Moreno. Each of the candidates pledged to support redevelopment of North 13th Street, the issue dear to the hearts of Northsiders.
